Since 2003, ITSM Academy has been a leader in Service Management training and education. We are a Global Strategic Partner of AXELOS (the owners of ITIL) and are committed to do all we can to help our entire Alumnus make a smooth transition into this new digital frontier of ITIL 4. ITIL 4 (scroll down for certification scheme image) retains the best of ITIL v3/2011, and the core elements remain intact. The new content allows modern and emerging practices (Agile, Lean, DevOps) to be discussed alongside best practices.
As you are probably aware, since our inception, ITSM Academy has developed all of our own courseware in-house. From ITIL v2/v3/2011 Foundation, through Managing Across the Lifecycle, and onto the newest course in the ITIL Scheme - ITIL Managing Professional Transition "the bridge".
What you may not know, ITSM Academy is also the lead author on many courses - including flagship DevOps Institute (DOI) content;
- DevOps Foundation (first class October 2014)
- Certified Agile Service Manager (first class November 2014)
- Certified Agile Process Owner (first class September 2015)
- ITSM For DevOps (first class March 2018)
Independent of DOI, we also are the lead author on the Certified Process Design Engineer (first class August 2008) and Value Stream Mapping Fundamentals (first class March 2019). We have also been instrumental in assisting CitrusCollab with their Employee Experience (XLA) training. As such, we are uniquely prepared to guide organizations in their continuous improvement efforts, as we transition to ITIL 4 and adapt Service Management practices in support of DevOps and Agile.
#3to4Guides - We've mapped out the answers to the questions we are most frequently answering:
“What’s in ITIL 4?"
ITIL 4 retains the best of ITIL v3/2011, and the core elements remain intact. The new content allows modern and emerging practices (Agile, Lean, DevOps) to be discussed alongside best practices. Download "What is ITIL 4" whitepaper.
“After I complete ITIL 4 Foundation, what's next?
As ITIL 4 provides a holistic end-to-end picture that integrates modern practices, such as DevOps, Agile and Lean IT, we have lots of resources - and classes - to help you learn all about these concepts.

“Will there be a ‘library’ still?”
Yes. The Core Guidance – Fundamentals Book was the first published. Additional ITIL 4 publications have since become available.
“I am certified in ITIL v3, so what do I do?”
Of course, the time and money you’ve invested in your ITIL knowledge is still very meaningful and worthwhile. If you are currently ITIL v3 certified, AXELOS/PEOPLECERT have not built a Foundation bridge class... And it makes sense. In ITIL 4, the definition of a Service has changed, so it's imperative to understand the new way of looking at IT, throughout the ITIL 4 lens.
The Managing Professional (MP) Transition class is for learners with 17+ credits. Almost there? If so, reach out to your team to discuss options (use Chat below).
ITIL Managing Professional (ITIL MP, column on the left in the image below) targets IT practitioners working within technology and digital teams across businesses. The Managing Professional (MP) stream provides practical and technical knowledge about how to run successful IT enabled services, teams and workflows.
ITIL Strategic Leader (ITIL SL, column on the right in the image below) recognizes the value of ITIL, not just for IT operations, but for all digitally-enabled services. Becoming an ITIL SL demonstrates that the individual has clear understanding of how IT influences and directs business strategy. To obtain the designation ITIL MP or ITIL SL, the candidate must complete all modules in each stream, with ITIL Strategist being a universal module for both streams.
